ASM GmbH POSITILT®MEMS Inclination Sensors

Inclination sensors operate on a different physical principle: gravity as reference. POSITILT's internal MEMS accelerometer calculates the sensor's orientation relative to the gravity vector, giving an absolute reference independent of any rotating machinery.

POSITILT comes in 9 models, across 4 main segments:

Plastic/Aluminum Standard (PTAM27/PTDM27, PTAM2/PTDM2): Economical OEM + standard industry, IP67-IP69.
Stainless Steel Rugged (PTAM5/6/7 + PRDS variants): Outdoor, heavy industry, hygienic wash-down — 316L stainless, IP67/IP69.
High Precision (PTM27, PTM29): 0.001° resolution — 50× more precise than standard 0.05°.
Underwater 10 Bar (PTAM4): IP68 continuous submerged, up to 100 m subsea.

Measuring Range: ±180° on one axis, ±60° on two axes. PTAM27/PTDM27 uniquely supports ±180° on both axes.

Output Interfaces: 0.5-10 V, 0.5-4.5 V, 4-20 mA, tare function, CANopen, SAE J1939.

MEMS Limit: For moving equipment, the POSITILT PTK gyro-compensated variant (separate page) is preferred.

High-Precision MEMS Inclination Sensors (0.001° Resolution)

PTM27 (plastic) and PTM29 (stainless steel) — the most precise models in the POSITILT family. 0.001° resolution is 50× more precise than the standard 0.05°. For calibration test rigs, precision engineering equipment, structural tilt monitoring (bridges, towers) and laboratory applications.

Underwater / High-Pressure MEMS Inclination Sensor

PTAM4 is certified for IP68 + 10 bar pressure resistance for subsea equipment, ship platforms, and pressurised tanks. 316L stainless steel + continuous submerged operation. Used in deep-sea applications where standard POSITILT models are insufficient.
