How is GigaFuse different from traditional melting-strip DC fuses?

GigaFuse is the world's only hermetic electromechanical DC fuse family. Traditional fuses open by melting a metal strip, while GigaFuse uses a magnetically actuated electromechanical mechanism that opens in ~5 ms. Melting fuses suffer aging — thermal and current cycling drift the fuse curve, leading to unpredictable nuisance trips in the field. GigaFuse has none of that: protection coordination stays stable for years. The hermetic body also delivers very low, stable internal resistance that is immune to humidity, dust and vibration.

What is the difference between GFP and GFPA variants?

GFP (Passive) is an autonomous fuse — it opens on overcurrent without any external signal. GFPA (Passive/Active) keeps the same passive protection but can also be opened by an external trigger signal, so a BMS, protection relay or vehicle controller can disconnect it on command when needed. Use GFPA when BMS-driven opening is required and GFP when short-circuit protection alone is enough.

How do side (A) and top (B) mounting options affect the application?

Mount orientation is chosen by busbar entry angle and available volume in the pack or cabinet. Side (A) brings the busbar to the side face — preferred for flat pack ceilings or horizontal bus architectures. Top (B) takes the busbar on the top face and fits vertical bus architectures. Electrical parameters are identical; the choice is a mechanical integration decision.

How do you position GigaFuse versus FaultBreak and PyroFuse?

All three represent different protection philosophies. GigaFuse is a passive / semi-passive DC fuse — a hermetic electromechanical replacement for traditional fuses with zero aging and predictable coordination. PyroFuse is a pyrotechnic single-shot circuit breaker that opens in <1 ms — the maximum safety barrier for crash / short-circuit critical EV architectures. FaultBreak is the new-gen hybrid that combines fuse + contactor in one device and is resettable after nuisance trips. In a typical EV architecture the three are complementary; none is a direct replacement for the other.
