ABOUT GX SERIES
Series overview
The Sensata Technologies / GIGAVAC GX series is a hermetically sealed DC contactor family with a long track record in EV, energy storage and industrial DC power distribution. It covers 12–800 Vdc (GXV600/611: 900 Vdc, GXVB611: 1000 Vdc) and 150–1000 A continuous current, with SPST-NO, SPST-NC, latching, current-sensing and CAN-bus types.
Manufactured by GIGAVAC, a Sensata Technologies brand, the GX series is one of the pioneering hermetic DC contactor families and has been used for many years in EV, energy storage and industrial DC applications. The contacts operate inside a hermetically sealed chamber where the arc is extinguished, so the contactor is unaffected by moisture, dust, vibration and flammable gases. The EPIC® seal is rated to 175 °C. The series is designed to meet UL1604 (Class I & II Div 2, Class III), IP67 (IP69K on most models), SAE J1171 and ISO 8846; operating temperature is −55…+85 °C and it can be mounted in any position. The family is organised by current class and mounting style: 150 A (GX11, GX21, GX32), 225 A (GX12), 350 A (GX14, GX23, GX34), 600 A (GX16, GX26, GX46, GX66) and 1000 A (GX110). GX1x models have chassis-level power terminals, GX2x models are stand-up mounted with an integrated safety cover, and GX3x models are side mounted. Special types: GXNC14 normally closed, GXL14 latching, GXSA/GXSB over-current and current-sensing, GXC15/16 CAN-bus Smart-Tactor™, GXV600/611 600 A / 900 Vdc and the bidirectional GXVB611 at 1000 Vdc. When selecting, specify the continuous current, the voltage to be interrupted, the coil voltage (12/24 Vdc on most types, 48 Vdc on many; the 150–225 A frames also offer 72/120 Vdc and 120/240 Vac) and the auxiliary contact (none, NO or NC; 2 A, 24 Vdc). Breaking life is rated for current flowing from A2(+) to A1(−); capacitive loads require a pre-charge circuit. Coil suppression is built in, so no external diode should be added across the coil.
