NMG2

NMG2 is a portable measuring instrument by ASM GmbH, long preferred by machine safety inspection teams. The system has three components: NMG2 main measuring device (tablet-size portable housing + dot matrix printer + RS232), NMG2 accessories (light curtain interrupter actuator, WINSOFT software, measuring wheel), and NMG ProSoft (LabVIEW-based analysis/reporting software).

Typical Application: An industrial facility has a hydraulic press. A light curtain is installed on the press — when an operator's hand reaches into the press area, the light curtain breaks and the press receives a stop command. Question: How far should the light curtain be from the press tool? Too close, and the press doesn't stop before the operator's hand contacts the tool. Too far, and useful workspace is wasted. EN ISO 13855's formula S = K × T + C gives the minimum safety distance — where T = stop time.

Measurement Method: The NMG2 measuring wheel is mounted in contact with the press head. The light curtain interrupter actuator triggers the light curtain. NMG2 starts timing immediately; distance is recorded until the head stops. Output: stop time (ms) + overrun distance (mm). ProSoft software visualises this data as displacement-time and velocity-time graphs; reports are prepared as PDF with company logo.

Legal Requirement: In Türkiye, OHS regulations and EU CE directives require machine safety inspections. Hydraulic presses, mechanical presses, guillotine shears, sheet-metal forming machines, robot cells — annual or periodic inspection of these machines uses NMG2-type certified stop-time measurement as standard. NMG2 ships with an ISO 9001 calibration certificate — valid for TÜRKAK-accredited labs and inspection bodies.
