ABOUT SIM100MOD SERIES

Series overview

The Sendyne SIM100MOD is the first high-voltage isolation monitoring module designed for EVs and hybrid vehicles. Patented signal injection and dynamic self-calibration algorithm provides correct operation even when the battery is active with large voltage variations, and remains functional when the battery is not connected. CAN 2.0B isolated interface (250 or 500 kbit/s), ±1500V max measurement (xNx) or ±960V (xMx), 24 SKU variants (2 CAN × 3 voltage × 4 connector combination). +4.8 V to +53 V supply, -40°C / +125°C electronics, -40°C / +105°C with connectors. Compliant with ISO 6469-3:2011-12, UL 2231-1, UL 2231-2, IEC 61557-8, CFR 571.305.

The Sendyne SIM100MOD is the first high-voltage isolation monitoring module designed for electric vehicles (EV) and hybrid vehicles (HEV). It continuously monitors the insulation resistance between a vehicle's IT (Isolated Terra) power system and chassis for deterioration of isolation and potentially dangerous levels of leakage current.

The patented algorithm (US Pat. 8,373,408 · 8,350,552 · 8,289,030) enables the module to detect not only resistive leakages but also capacitively stored energy — including multiple simultaneous symmetrical and asymmetrical faults. In the case of a fault, the unit identifies the relative position of the fault with respect to the battery terminals.

Battery-connected VX1 (Vp) and VX2 (Vn) voltage inputs can measure ±1500V (xNx variant) or ±960V (xMx variant) with reference to chassis (0V). Communication is via an isolated CAN 2.0B interface (500 or 250 kbit/s). Power supply range is +4.8 V to +53 V (variable, compatible with standard 5V to 48V supplies). The module operates within -40°C / +125°C electronics temperature, -40°C / +105°C with connectors.

SIM100MOD is designed as a component for systems complying with ISO 6469-3:2011-12, UL 2231-1, UL 2231-2, IEC 61557-8, CFR 571.305, and other applicable EV safety standards.

Typical applications:

  • Monitoring ungrounded (IT) DC power systems for hazardous resistive and capacitive leaks
  • Electric and hybrid vehicles (EV/HEV/PHEV)
  • DC fast-charging stations
  • Energy storage facilities (ESS)
  • Battery management systems (BMS)

Ordering matrix (24 SKU): CAN speed (A=500 kbit/s, B=250 kbit/s) × Voltage class (L=100V special order, M=960V, N=1500V) × Connectors (A=all connectors + termination, B=all connectors, no termination, C=no connectors + termination, D=no connectors, no termination).
